NewsBeyonce ditches plans to play Malaysia citing 'scheduling conflicts'Beyonce has cancelled a scheduled show in Malaysia, instead choosing to perform in Indonesia on her visit to the region. The singer has cited a scheduling conflict as the reason for the November 1 cancellation, although rumours are rife that it was due to strict Muslim rules about how women performers should dress. Indonesia is also a Muslim country, but its rules are not as strict as those in Malaysia that insist women cover up from shoulders to knees. Beyonce will now perform on that date in Jakarta. According to the Associated Press, Razlan Ahmad Razali, the chairman of Pineapple Concerts who were due to stage the show said they were "disappointed and frustrated" that the concert was pulled from Malaysia. Gwen Stefani agreed to cover up for her performance in Kuala Lumper last August, but said it was a "major sacrifice". Aussie punk legends to play Club NME LA tomorrow Australian punk legends The Saints are set to play Club NME Los Angeles with Fred Perry Subculture tomorrow night (July 25). This will be the Brisbane rockers' first Los Angeles show since 1987. Also set for tomorrow night are Portland post-punk band The Nice Boys and local soul slingers The Amazements. Resident DJ Dia and surprise guest DJs will spin a mix of rock, electronica, punk and hip-hop before and after the sets. Club NME with Fred Perry Subculture takes place at Spaceland in the Silver Lake neighbourhood of Los Angeles every Wednesday night. Next Wednesday (August 1), Great Glass Elevator and Houseguest are set to headline Club NME LA with Fred Perry Subculture. |
